Cyanotypes

In addition to oil painting, I love to create cyanotypes and run the occasional cyanotype workshop to spread the joy of this alternative photography process.

The cyanoptype process was invented in 1842 by Sir John Herschel and was one of the earliest photographic techniques. Ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide are combined, and when exposed to UV light, create ferric ferrocyanide, also known as Prussian Blue.

If you'd like to follow my cyanotype journey I have an Instagram page @amandaturnercyanotypes where I share my own cyanotype art.

May 2024 News!

I now have a second Cyanotype Instagram page @cyanartclubto celebrate art history through the process of cyanotypes.

I'm very excited about this page and will keep updating it when I can. It's a place where I can bring together by love of cyanotypes and my love of art history. Follow for cyanotypes of paintings from art history, as well as information about the artists, art movements and the paintings. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the paintings and artists too!

The cyanotypes will also be available to buy. No online shop yet but feel free to get in touch if you are interested in any of the cyanotypes created.
